About Me

Krista Caughey is the founder of Changing Tides Counseling and works with adults navigating anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. She understands that starting therapy can feel intimidating and works intentionally to ensure each client’s comfort. Krista takes a down-to-earth, non-judgmental approach and focuses on creating a space where people feel understood and able to be themselves. She knows life is messy and rarely looks “perfect,” and she uses conversation, connection, and humor when appropriate to build rapport and get to the heart of what’s really going onm because that’s where real change happens.

Krista brings extensive experience from over 25 years of work with individuals and families, with a professional background in child welfare, trauma, and abuse and neglect. She has a special interest in medical child abuse and has worked closely with high-conflict families and complex systems. Krista has extensive training in trauma, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as additional training in attachment styles, LGBTQIA-affirmative care, and anxiety. This background informs her thoughtful, grounded approach to therapy with adults.

In addition to her clinical work, Krista is passionate about serving the broader community and has provided training and education on child abuse and trauma-informed care to local universities and community partners. She values making mental health information accessible, practical, and rooted in real-world experience.

Outside of work, Krista enjoys spending time with family and friends, cuddling her three dogs, drinking good coffee, traveling and keeping up with true crime.
