1. Where are you located? We provide therapy services at our location at 8130 S. Meridian Street Suite 4A, Indianapolis, IN 46217. We are located behind the Chase Bank near Perry Meridian High School and Meridian Middle School. We also provide Telehealth therapy services on a virtual secure platform anywhere in Indiana.
2. How much does therapy cost? Our therapy rates are $135.00 per 55 minute session with one of our licensed clinical social workers and $110.00 per hour with one of our licensed social workers. Our couples counseling cost is $135.00 per session. This includes either an in-person session at our Southside office or a secure virtual appointment from the comfort of your home. However, insurance greatly reduces the cost of therapy. Call us or message us today and we'll be happy to check your insurance coverage for therapy services.
3. Do you accept insurance? Currently, we have several providers who accept Anthem and United Healthcare insurance. We also have self-pay therapy providers. Most Anthem and United Healthcare plans offer some mental health services coverage. If you are not sure what your plan offers, we can help you find out. We can also provide you a special bill (referred to as a Superbill) to submit to other insurance companies and you may be reimbursed for some of the costs you paid for your therapy. Contact us and let us know you need information on the cost of therapy. We'll be happy to help you determine what your insurance will cover.
4. How long will I be in therapy? The length of therapy depends on your goals and your progress. After we complete our first appointment with your therapist at Changing Tides Counseling, we will be able to provide an outline of our work together. However, healing is not linear and everyone's journey is different, which means setting a time frame for healing is very difficult.
5. How often do I need to attend therapy? Some clients come to therapy services weekly while others come bi-weekly or even monthly. The frequency of your sessions is ultimately up to you. After your first session, your therapist will discuss with you their recommendation for frequency, but you make the final decision of what works best for you. Together you and your therapist can develop a plan to help you get the help you're seeking.
6. Feeling nervous about calling a therapist? Wonder what happens when you call? Hey, we get it. It's hard to make that first call to a therapist, especially if you're new to therapy. We do our best to make that first contact less scary and awkward than it may initially feel. When you call, you'll talk directly to one of us and we'll guide you through picking the right therapist, our costs, insurance questions and getting scheduled. We know the first call is uncomfortable and she'll make it easy to walk you through the next steps.
7. What happens at my first appointment? During your first appointment, we will do everything we can to help you feel at ease. As you start working with a therapist, you will build a therapeutic relationship with that therapist, which will make it easier as time goes on to open up and allow us to help you through your struggles. You can think of the first session as an information gathering session. We will get to know you, your goals and talk about how we can help.
8. What is therapy like? At Changing Tides, we are easy to talk to, friendly, and supportive. We know it's hard to open up in a formal or stuffy therapeutic environment. This is why we work hard to create a relaxed, comfortable space where you can feel at ease and safe sharing your story or working through difficult issues with a caring therapist at your side. We have a come as you are philosophy. Bring your coffee, your lunch, your favorite comforting item or even show up in your PJ's. There is no judgment here. You can participate in the comfort of your own home or even on your lunch break at work without the hassle of traffic.
9. Which therapist will I see? You can learn more about our therapists in our About Uspage and choose who is the best fit for your needs. If you need help deciding, we can tell you more about each therapist when you reach out to us and we can even help you pick the right fit.
Contact us to book your appointment. We look forward to talking with you.
